Cybersecurity often requires looking for patterns, and when technology can manage this task for you, the productivity gains are clear. That’s why machine learning capabilities were a must-have in a cybersecurity solution for Mike Rue, Director of I.T. Infrastructure and Operations at Firma, a global payments specialist.
With no dedicated security staff, the company lacked the time and resources to gain clear insight and visibility into the security of their infrastructure. By onboarding Secureworks® MDR, they eliminated the need to build an in-house security team and enjoyed greater visibility in their environment. Using the Secureworks MDR dashboard, they could quickly drill down into the details of alerts, and Rue also used the tool to help inform director-level leadership about their current data security and alerts. These collective efforts are part of what makes Rue a Secureworks Taegis Titan.
Q1: How has the Secureworks MDR dashboard helped you to educate director-level leadership about Firma’s security workload and challenges?
A1: Not long after it was installed, I demoe’d the software to leadership to show them just how many alerts were being generated, how much data was going through our infrastructure and how much we were having to monitor in our environment. It helped them really understand what we were trying to achieve with the engagement of the platform.
Q2: While choosing a solution, how did the human partnership of monthly threat hunts and quarterly security-based line reviews conducted by Secureworks experts affect your decision?
A2: These two factors were huge in the decision. Other solutions didn’t have the extra human element.
Q3: Overall, how has your experience been partnering with Secureworks for managed detection and response?
A3: I have trouble finding any faults, and new features mean it’s constantly improving. It’s one of the best decisions we’ve made in a long time.
