New from the Counter Threat Unit™ (CTU) Research Team
In the past six months, while most eyes have been on Russian hackers, CTU Director of Malware Research Joe Stewart and fellow CTU researcher James Bettke have discovered that Nigerian threat actors have been quietly and methodically upping their criminal game. They have been fine-tuning their operations, learning the ins and outs of specific industries, and then targeting specific verticals, via industry bulletin boards and online forums. Stewart and Bettke decided to launch their own offensive, infiltrating and disrupting the hackers’ operations.
Learn how Stewart and Bettke developed a counter social engineering strategy to help ID the criminals and discover and shut down the hackers’ money mule bank accounts, the lynchpin of a cyber criminal’s business.
