Targeted threats represent a serious threat to organizations as the sophistication, organization and execution among actors continues to grow. Targeted threat actors focus on a specific target and customize and adapt their tools, tactics and procedures (TTP) to predict and circumvent security controls and standard incident response practices. In addition, defensive tools, procedures, and controls commonly put in place to detect everyday cyber threats are often ineffective against targeted attacks.
The Dell SecureWorks Advanced Threat Preparedness Assessment service evaluates your organization’s ability to detect, resist and respond to a targeted or advanced threat. The service is designed to help organizations understand their exposure to targeted threats, including Advanced Persistent Threats (APT), and take action to reduce their risk of compromise. The review covers four main areas of interest: Organizational Intelligence Assessment, Policy and Documentation, Technical Capabilities, and Personnel Management.
With Dell SecureWorks, you can:
Dell SecureWorks information security consultants will analyze the complete results generated during the assessment and provide an overall risk score. Our consultants will also provide risk scores and actionable recommendations across a wide variety of evaluated best practices.
Organizational Intelligence Assessment
The Organizational Intelligence Assessment evaluates the critical thinking and methodologies you have in place to mitigate risk to your organization in areas of threat intelligence, vulnerability management and asset valuation.
Policy and Documentation Review
The Policy and Documentation Review evaluates your policies, procedures, and controls documentation against industry standards and Dell SecureWorks best practice recommendations for addressing targeted threats. This review includes evaluation of your existing Computer Security Incident Response Plan (CSIRP).
Technical Capabilities Assessment
The Technical Capabilities Assessment reviews your security architecture implementation, asset management and disposition practices. Reviewing these areas provides a detailed understanding of the current state and resilience of your organization's environment to detect, respond and restore operations from an incident.
During the Personnel Management review, Dell SecureWorks information security consultants will evaluate methods used to secure your normal and privileged users consistent with a Defense-in-Depth posture. The consultants will also review the overall composition of your security organization - skillsets, experience and training – with the purpose of identifying gaps that would prevent effective detection and incident response.
Presentation of findings and exact deliverables are custom tailored to the type of work performed and your needs.
The Risk Profile Report will highlight both strengths and weaknesses in your security program, relating to your ability to detect, resist and respond to an advanced threat. You can use this analysis to prioritize resources to close gaps identified by the risk scores.
